Champions Ascension Partners with Amazon Prime for Exclusive Rewards

An action-packed, combat-oriented RPG, Champions Ascension, has partnered with Amazon Prime to offer exclusive in-game rewards to subscribers.

Starting Friday, Amazon Prime Gaming members can claim a loot box containing monster parts and 100 in-game gold. These monster parts can be used to craft a monster for the upcoming Maestro Towers mode.

While Champions Ascension features NFTs, these in-game items are not tokenized, meaning they are purely digital and non-tradable.

Similar to other Web3 games, Champions Ascension is offering exclusive in-game items through Amazon Prime Gaming biweekly for the next 12 weeks. These items will include additional resources like essence and bone, along with more monster part boxes.

Amazon Prime subscribers already enjoy free in-game content for both NFT games like Mojo Melee, Brawlers, and "Web2" games like League of Legends, Roblox, Madden NFL 24, and Cyberpunk 2077.

Champions Ascension is currently in early access alpha playtest and plans to launch on Steam, but without NFT functionality due to Steam's restrictions.

By partnering with Amazon Prime, Champions Ascension expands its reach and offers exclusive rewards to a broader audience. This collaboration highlights the growing integration of blockchain-based games into mainstream platforms and the increasing recognition of NFTs as a valuable component of the gaming experience.

Web3 Games Face High Failure Rates

Unfortunately, the Web3 gaming industry faces a harsh reality: a 80.8% failure rate over the past five years. Shockingly, only 690 of the 2,817 Web3 games launched between 2018 and 2023 still maintain a somewhat active player base, while 2,100 have shut down.

CoinGecko defines a failed Web3 game as one that experiences a 99% drop in active users within a 14-day period compared to its peak. This news is surprising considering the initial excitement and investments Web3 gaming received.

Despite the high failure rate, Web3 gaming projects have secured over $2 billion in funding in 2023 alone. The CoinGecko report, however, raises concerns about the industry's long-term sustainability.
