40% of cryptocurrency-related materials in Telegram were fraudulent in 2023

A report by Angara Security found that 40% of cryptocurrency-related materials published in Telegram in 2023 were fraudulent. The report analyzed 22,000 posts related to cryptocurrencies, of which 9,000 were marked as suspicious and subsequently removed.

The majority of the fraudulent posts offered users investment opportunities in cryptocurrencies, promising high returns with little or no risk. In some cases, the posts also offered to help users register offshore companies or invest in cryptocurrency mining.

Angara Security found that scammers often use deceptive language and tactics to lure victims, such as using phrases like "get rich quick" or "guaranteed profits." They also frequently target users who are new to cryptocurrency or who are looking for quick and easy ways to make money.

To avoid becoming a victim of cryptocurrency fraud, experts recommend:

  1. Do your own research before investing in any cryptocurrency.
  2. Be wary of any investment opportunity that promises high returns with little or no risk.
  3. Never give out your personal or financial information to anyone you don't know and trust.
